What does Horsebox Insurance Cover?
Our specialist Horsebox Insurance provides cover for horseboxes, including injury to others and damage to their property.
Included as standard
- Unlimited legal liability for death or injury to third parties including passengers
- Legal liability for damage to another person’s property up to £10,000,000 in respect of any one claim or number of claims arising out of one cause
- Legal costs incurred, with our consent, in connection with a claim
- Loss or damage to the insured vehicle
- Replacement vehicle cover if costs to repair exceed 50% of list price and vehicle was purchased and registered by you from new
- Windscreen replacement and repair
- Replacement locks up to £500
- Personal effects up to £100
- Medical expenses up to £500
- Personal accident up to £5,000
- Temporary vehicle hire costs up to £1,000 for the recovery of horse(s)
- Business use (equestrian occupations only)
What isn’t included?
- Theft or attempted theft if vehicle has been left unlocked or with keys or keyless entry system in or on the vehicle
- Any vehicle being driven by a person not covered by the policy
- Any use other than social domestic and pleasure purposes, unless stated otherwise in your certificate
- Loss of use, wear and tear, depreciation or mechanical, electrical, electronic or computer failures, breakdowns or breakages
- Any vehicle being used in the parts of airports or aerodromes to which aircraft have access.

It certainly can. For an additional cost, we can provide Horsebox Breakdown Cover at an affordable price, which will be added to your existing policy. If your horsebox is not fixable roadside, we can even cover overnight accommodation for your horse, or immediate transport beforehand.

In order to take out horse lorry insurance you will need to ensure that you are suitably qualified to drive it. This will depend on when you passed your driving test and the type of horse lorry you intend to drive.
